Original music featured on Rugged Expeditions is written and performed by J. Alain and Monty Smith 

Music in the Smith family is not just enjoyed…it’s a passion.
J. Alain started at an early age playing in bands beginning in junior high school and continuing all the way through college. Rock and roll, blues and country consume his musical mojo. Thru the years he has been able to play and/or hang out with everyone from Ted Nugent to Zac Brown, Jimmy Page to Joe Walsh and a host of other talented musicians.

For over 40 years, J. Alain’s brother, Monty Smith, has been performing, writing & producing music. He’s performed up & down the West Coast for many years in original, tribute & cover bands. His travels as a musician/producer/lighting/soundman have brought him to share the stage & studio with members of Blue Oyster Cult, Alice Cooper, Steppenwolf, Survivor, Heart, Sheriff, 3 Dog Night, Johnny Winter, Loudness, Winger and Ricky Nelson. It is with his talent and expertise in music production, that all the original music you hear in every episode of Rugged Expeditions has been created in Monty’s Seattle area recording studio, written and performed by J. Alain and Monty. Their creation of hit music and videos continues with much more music still to come!
